Nano Banana 2.1 for Architecture and Interior Design

Nano Banana 2.1 is Google's image generation and editing model, built on Gemini 3.6 Flash as the update to Nano Banana 2. In Fenestra it renders and edits architecture and interiors in Create and Edit, with readable lettering and the same building held across edits, at up to 4K.

What's New

What's New in Nano Banana 2.1?

Readable text, steadier edits and nearly three times Nano Banana 2's infographic accuracy on Google's model card. Here's how that showed up in our first renders.

Text that reads

We asked for 'Fenestra HQ' carved into a sandstone arch and got it spelled right, with the lettering following the curve of the stone.

Same building, any weather

We took one Glasgow street from overcast to early-morning sun to fresh snow. The arches, the window grid and the camera stayed put each time.

Plain prompts work

None of our prompts ran past two sentences. Name the building, the setting and the camera angle, and it fills in the rest.

Diagrams and boards

Google's model card puts 2.1 at nearly three times Nano Banana 2 on infographic accuracy. That's the gain we expect to matter most for labelled boards and concept diagrams.

Workflow

How Do You Use Nano Banana 2.1?

Upload a view, pick Nano Banana 2.1 in Create or Edit, describe the change and what should stay, then choose 1K, 2K or 4K. Nothing to install.

Step 1

Upload the view

A render, a viewport screenshot, a photograph or a sketch. JPG or PNG.

Step 2

Pick Nano Banana 2.1

From the model list in Create or Edit. Add up to six reference images alongside the view.

Step 3

Say what changes, and what stays

Describe the edit and the parts to keep. Google's model card flags left-and-right mix-ups, so call elements by name, and put any words you want in the image in quotes.

Step 4

Download at the size you need

1K to explore, 2K for client review, 4K for the final board.

Nano Banana 2.1 FAQs

What you'll want to know before putting Nano Banana 2.1 on a client job.

Nano Banana 2.1 is Google's image generation and editing model, released on 6 October 2026 as an update to Nano Banana 2 and built on Gemini 3.6 Flash. We added it to Fenestra's Create and Edit the same week, at 1K, 2K and 4K.
Nano Banana 2.1 is better at text, at staying consistent across edits and at infographics. Google's model card scores it ahead of Nano Banana 2 on overall preference and consistency, and infographic accuracy nearly triples. In our first renders, text and consistency were the standouts. Both are in Fenestra with the same 1K, 2K and 4K options.
Open a project, choose Create or Edit, and pick Nano Banana 2.1. Describe the change and what should stay the same, add up to six reference images and refer to them by number, then set the resolution. Put any words you want in the image in quotes and keep labels short, since Google's model card notes small text is a weak spot. Call elements by name rather than left or right, because the same card flags left-right mix-ups.
There's no official comparison yet, and we're not calling it. Both are in Fenestra: Nano Banana 2.1 in Create and Edit, GPT Image 2.5 in Edit as Flare and Sunburst. We'd start with 2.1 for readable lettering and a run of edits on one view, and run the same prompt through both before committing.
Yes. Everything you generate on a paid plan comes with full commercial rights, covering client presentations, competition submissions, your website and social channels.
It depends on the shot, and there's no official comparison yet: Google hasn't published a head-to-head with Nano Banana Pro. So far we'd reach for 2.1 when the image needs readable text, a labelled board, or a run of edits on the same view. Run the same prompt through both from the model picker and compare.
It's included on every Fenestra plan and uses credits like our other models. The cost scales with resolution, so 1K explorations are cheap and 4K costs the most, and the exact figure is on the generate button before you run it.
Yes, especially for readable lettering and for keeping one building consistent across a run of edits. We asked for 'Fenestra HQ' carved into a sandstone arch and got the lettering spelled right and following the curve, from a two-sentence prompt. It also held our Glasgow building steady through overcast, morning sun and snow, so you can show a client the scheme in another season without it drifting.
A JPG or PNG view as the base image, plus up to six more images as references: renders, photographs, material samples, product shots or a mood board. One reference can be a board of several pieces, so a whole furniture selection counts as one image.
